The Astoria City Council will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, 1095 Duane Street, Astoria. The purpose of the hearing is to consider the following request:
Recognizing a need to address the issue of derelict buildings (i.e. boarded up structures, vacant buildings, buildings in significant disrepair, etc.), the City Council set as one of their goals for the Fiscal Year 2010-2011 to develop a process for addressing derelict buildings. The goal states:
Mitigate Derelict Building Problems
Adopt ordinance to alleviate problems and recover costs
Initiate Code Enforcement upon enactment of ordinance
