COUNTY COMMISSIONER APPLICANT WITHDRAWS

One of the four applicants for the vacant District 5 position on the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners has withdrawn. Robin Risley of Cannon Beach declared Wednesday she is withdrawing her application. Three other applicants – Dale Barrett of Seaside, Matt Samuelson of Seaside and Lianne Thompson of Arch Cape – are scheduled to be interviewed by the board of commissioners at the board’s Feb. 26 meeting at the Judge Guy Boyington Building, 857 Commercial St., Astoria. Interviews begin at 5 p.m., and the board is scheduled to select one of the applicants during the regular meeting beginning at 6 p.m. The District 5 position became vacant following the resignation of former commissioner Debra Birkby on Jan. 31. The selected applicant will serve out the remainder of the term, which runs through Dec. 31, 2014. The public can submit comments to the board on the applicants.
