FERC Calls Them "Zones of Concern", Sandia National Labs Calls Them "Hazard Zones"

The White Swath? - The 600 foot wide Main Shipping Channel passing by Astoria on The Columbia River.

The Red Lines? - Each side, 0.3(500 meters) of a mile off the center of the shipping channel.
Potential threat to Life, Health, Property, Environment and Exisitng Use that accompany LNG Tankers.
* Death by cryogenic freezing
* Death by fire or explosion
*Death by suffocation
* Cascading LNG containment failure(3 0r more of the LNG Tankers containers would likely fail)
* Destruction of the LNG Tanker and crew
* Everything within the zone would likely be destroyed
* Death to surface plankton
* Death to surface and diving birds
* Death to flying birds
* Death to fish near the surface
* Death to surfacing sea mammals(Whales, Dolphins, Sea Lions, Porpoise, Seals)
* Grass fires

The Yellow Lines? - Each side , 1 Mile(1600 meters) off the center of the main shipping channel.
Potential threat to Life, Health, Property, Environment and Existing Uses that accompany LNG Tankers. (This consumes most, if not all, of Astoria and Warrenton/Hammond won't fare much better)* Death by cryogenic freezing
* Death by suffocation
* Death or injury by fire or explosion
* 2nd degree burns within 30 seconds of exposure
* Property damaged or destroyed by fire or explosion
* Death to surface plankton
* Death to surface and diving birds
* Injury or death to flying birds
* Serious injury or death to to surfacing sea mammals
* Forest and grass fires
Further out 2.2 Miles(3500 meters) the damage and destruction continues
But, of course the Pro-LNG Pundit/Experts tell you that LNG is in no way Flamable, right?

I BELEIVE WHAT YOU WANT ME TO BELIEVE, McGEE!!!!

WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!! ARRGGHHH!!!

Patrick McGee said...

Obviously you, "Anonym", have no stake in Astoria to find such humor in the propsect of the potential damage that could be inflicted on its citizenry by a catastrophic LNG Tanker Explosion.

the anti LNGer's are as corrupt as Fox News-no lie, no cockamamie prediction is beneath them.

WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE!!!! OHHHH NOOOO!!!!!

I pray LNG comes to clatsop county just so the liberals who are against it will move away. Be nice to have industry in clatsop county again.

As far as the "death" that is mentioned, BS. Red hearing.

Patrick McGee said...

You really believe it's "Liberals" Glen or simply wiser citizens of our community who would rather have a more lucrative, cohesive and compatible option to put many more of us to work in long-term, sustainable, family wage jobs after the construction frenzy ends?

the Columbia River is an important sea port to the country and the world-this terminal's economic benefit to Clatsop County, Oregon and the Northwest will be huge. This project is entirely appropriate for us.

Says who?

You?

Personally, I'd much preferred that the only one LNG terminal allowed on the lower river and that would've been sited at Bradwood. Up there it's tucked out of the way of pretty much everybody and everything. If this one goes up at Tansy Point it'll be visible from most of Astoria, especially at night the way they'll probably light it up a lot so it' will also be visible from the beaches all the way down to Seaside.

I didn't stutter.
Anti fossil fuel and anti business crusaders giving way to alternate reality energy sources that are generations away from reality.

We are in the throws of a generation who has no clue we have debt we can never repay and we continue to think it is ok to print money we don't have.

Free trade and capitalism - unite and take over.

Patrick McGee said...

"Unite and take over"..... That's funny Glen.

"America first after us" is it?

g said...

I'm sorry for being so vague.
So there is no misunderstanding, I support fossil fuel energy exploration and development over the green energy intitiative that is sucking our state dry.

I will not pander to the leftists who pursue the green agenda at the cost of jobs in a known sector that has generations of production that will propel our economy forward.

I feel it is shameful the left have cost our region jobs in our natural resource industries like fishing and logging. I feel it is shameful to protest something like LNG export or import facilities because this is a known and proven industry that provides long term employment. To say otherwise is to deny reality.

So make no mistake nor should you misunderstand me. I despise the left and it's message of a false utopia based on free bubbleup and rainbow stew. Despise.

This election you won the battle but will lose the war because what you are fighting for is unobtainable. And in the process we continue to lose liberty and freedom.

No such thing as a free lunch.

How many end-jobs should OLNG/Warrenton reach fruition Glen?

g said...

15-30 and of course paying property taxes at no discount.

Patrick McGee said...

Exactly!

It's a billion dollar facility being built right here in Clatsop County with private investment. The spin off of just building of a marine terminal of this size and complexity will make the lower river towns of Astoria and Warrenton boom towns.

Over 100 LNG terminals in Japan when the tsunami happened. None were compromised or put anyone in danger, no explosions. The constant spewing of lies by the anti crowd and the damage this continues to do to our community is costly. If the antis succeed in stopping industry here, we will not see a viable project in this state in our lifetime. Shame on this community for not giving a damn about a future for our children, economic investment and development provides that future. We didn't have the extreme drug problem when I was a kid growing up here, but then we all could get a job, or two, and our fathers that were loggers, and fishermen were not treated like criminals by state agencies, whacko environmentalists, and elected officials.

I totally agree with Anonymous 10:18....and it irks me no end that Astoria is actually filling up with these whacko environmentalists and small time politicians like Herzig who panders to them.

Hey PM, I've got a pretty good video on the kill zone if you'd like to post it somehow. It's about the LNG in Boston but will get the point across. Bradwood LNG quit shortly after it aired. Interested? Email via my URL.

Patrick McGee said...

Post that video link right here

Kirk said...

I don't have a link, I have the video file I captured from cable TV. I've seen YouTube sometimes limits videos to 15 min. Any other suggestions?

Patrick McGee said...

What's the title of the video?

Kirk said...

A little hard to find in my old hard drives but it was captured from MSNBC titled Future Earth: Addicted To Power.

I am trying put it up on www.congressionalbiblestudy.org/LNG
but it's not a fast server. It might be real slow on displaying video. It is smaller than I thought, 7 min, 69 MB. Not sure about the legality of uploading it to YouTube. Once it shows up, you should copy it. It may not stay up past year end.

Anyone who watches it and still wants LNG should go back to school. It's not a political party issue, it's a safety issue.

Kirk said...

Yes as expected it's slow. So I suggest left click on my name above, right click on the link after the webpage shows up then click "save as" and save it on your computer to watch all in one piece after it downloads.

This can be fixed by uploading it to a faster video server like YouTube or another less strict about copyright.
