How Much Does A Recall Cost?

Well, this one, sent to us by Ted Thomas, indicates the last recall, I believe this is for Richard Lee, cost us $10,000 or so but, there's a figure of a little over $5,000 for "Amortization"?
"Amortization" for what?
Was somebody trying to slip in the purchase of a new piece of equipment at our expense?
Regardless, knock that number out and this particular Recall cost us about $5,000...right?
Wonder if the County "Bean Counters" would be interested in explaining this one away.

Thomas's Letter To The Daily Astorian Explans The Numbers Much Better

Thomas doesn't have any credibility--by all accounts from anyone having aquaintence or dealings with him he is reported to be nuttier than squirrel shit.

And who would you be to make that judgement?

Is the cost of the recall election actually $10,000 or half that?
It is either is or is not..

Resarch shows that Thomas is a transient-only known local address is a boat slip in Astoria's West End mooring basin. No record of ever living anywhere else in the county and no employment history. Thomas reportedly ran an unsucessful bid for a seat on the Port Commission in 2008. Any other information anyone has would be appreciated. He is considered to be an agitator for extreme left wing causes

Your "research" shows Thomas "reportedly" ran for "Port Commission"?

You must not be from around here. He did run for Port Commission.

Considered a "Left Wing agitator"?

Of course he would be considred that by some but, you want to tell us who that would be just for the record?

Look, either it actually COST $10,0000 to print, gather, and tabulate 5000 ballots or it does not.
You can't claim amortization of existing equipment as part of the cost.
That would be like saying a swine flu shot costs $800 because we have to amortize the stuff the Health Department bought.

Yes. It was reported as so. It was also reported he is unemployed/unemployable. It is also reported he is a transient.

And a very good question and for the answer you ould have to ask Mr. Neal with County to break it down for you specifically instead of speculating don'y you think?

here's a quote directly from the conclusion of this Thomas character's letter to the Daily Assholian:

It is obvious that it is this bunch of corrupt county commissioners that we really cannot afford.

THEODORE THOMAS
Astoria

Again, somebody not known in Astoria and without any proof charges elected officials as "corrupt". Then he states "WE" cannot afford, yet Thomas pays no taxes in Astoria, Clatsop County or Oregon but claims that somehow he is the victim of some sort of corruption. The man is completely off his rocker if he thinks anyone believes him
