USCG Captain Of The Port Closes Depoe Bay, Siuslaw And Columbia River Bar Entrances

ASTORIA, Ore. — Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP) for Sector Columbia River, based in Astoria, has issued bar closures for Depoe Bay, Ore., Siuslaw River, Ore., and Columbia River, Ore., at approximately 2 p.m., Monday, due to hazardous conditions.

Vessels are advised to remain at sea until conditions improve.

The bar closures are for all vessels. Any request to transit the bar prior to re-opening must be approved by the COTP. Mariners wishing to transit their vessels across the bar can contact the Sector Columbia River command center on VHF-FM Channel 16 or by telephone at (503) 861-6211.

The Coast Guard understands the effects these closures have on commerce and will make every effort to reopen these waterways as soon as they are considered safe for navigation.
