One of the four applicants for the vacant District 5 position on the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners has withdrawn. Robin Risley of Cannon Beach declared Wednesday she is withdrawing her application. Three other applicants – Dale Barrett of Seaside, Matt Samuelson of Seaside and Lianne Thompson of Arch Cape – are scheduled to be interviewed by the board of commissioners at the board’s Feb. 26 meeting at the Judge Guy Boyington Building, 857 Commercial St., Astoria. Interviews begin at 5 p.m., and the board is scheduled to select one of the applicants during the regular meeting beginning at 6 p.m. The District 5 position became vacant following the resignation of former commissioner Debra Birkby on Jan. 31. The selected applicant will serve out the remainder of the term, which runs through Dec. 31, 2014. The public can submit comments to the board on the applicants. Go to for more information.

Information gathered, as well as numerous citizen complaints over the course of several months, showed McGee,.. to be a source of Heroin entering Clatsop County. Late in the evening of 02/18/2014, CCINT and Clatsop County Sheriff's Office Deputies arrested McGee in the Astoria Safeway parking lot without incident. McGee was found to be in possession of a considerable amount of powdered Heroin and a small amount of Methamphetamine. McGee was charged with Delivery and Possession of Heroin, Delivery and Possession of Methamphetamine and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
