Mr. McGee,
Just for the record, I was at a Portland hospital emergency room with a family member the night of this school board meeting. So this indeed proves that anything can be written on a recall petition, it doesn't matter if it is true or not.

I don't quite get your point Ann but, attending to a family emergency would be an expected and excuseable action on anybody's part.

Was this listed in the cause for recall?

The article just said you were absent from "The Vote" but supported it.

My point is that truth is irrelevant in a recall effort. I did not violate any ORS at anytime as a school board member, and I wasn't even present to possibily do anything wrong. They can only attempt to recall two of us, and they have chosen the most experienced board members to attack in this recall. I do support the selection of Mr. Jones. He is a by the book administrator, one of the best I've ever known. It would be challenging to find another professional with his skill set that would come in and take on the work that has to be done. There is much work to do to bring the school into compliance with Federal and State standards as is required by law. I was not at the meeting which they have decided these alleged violations have occurred, which according to OSBA no laws were broken. Because I support Mr. Jones and the forward movement of the school and the changes being made I am targeted. My husband was targeted by a small group a few years ago, went before standards and practices and they apologized to him when the investigation was over and determined the allegations were unfounded. When you are elected in the the state of Oregon you can be recalled for something that is not true, there is no burden of proof on behalf of the petitioner. Goverment resources paid for by tax dollars are sometimes used to harass elected officials, i.e. when I was turned in by the head of the democratic party for money laundering, that makes the front page but an agknowledgement that Mr. Taylor was wrong in that bullying effort never makes the front page. Frankly it's the waste of time and energy this sort of behavior takes away from moving forward, but it's part of the job of volunteering in Clatsop County. It will be difficult in the future to get people to run for political office that are willing to put in the hours it takes to do this.
