Oregon Department of Justice's "Media Rep" confirmed today that there was, indeed, an "Inquiry", upon request, into certain actions in Richard Lee's past conduct as confirmed by Sheriff Tom Bergin and reported by the Daily Astorian.
They, D.O.J., determined, in their inquiry, there was not enough evidence to warrant a full investigation at the time.

And all of it done over the phone...hmmmm
Pardon?
The "Inquiry/Investigation" was all done over the phone...no paper trial.

"The "Inquiry/Investigation" was all done over the phone...no paper trial."
Freudian slip?
So this doesn't bother you at all that there is no paper trail?
What makes me upset about this is the possibility that Richard did do something wrong, but the proper procedures were not followed so it was called off.
I am just confirming what one source says was an "Investigation" and what another source said was a "Completely False Concoction" and this is the official statement as of today:....Oregon Department of Justice's "Media Rep" confirmed today that there was, indeed, an "Inquiry", upon request, into certain actions in Richard Lee's past conduct as confirmed by Sheriff Tom Bergin and reported by the Daily Astorian.

Nothing was ever called off, the inquiry, found there was not enough evidence at the time to move to the next stage and we can opine and editorialize about it all we want but, it is simply and factually, as it has been from day one, an "inquiry".
From day one?
Not "Factually"
Nobody called it an "inquiry" until the last few days. You have an email from Josh calling it an "investigation"..I have several from Bergin saying the same and we all know what was posted in the Daily A.....
Even if so....Look-up other "Inquiries" from the Oregon DOJ...there seems to be documents everywhere...but not here...Do you wonder why?
I am simply reporting that, today, Oregon Department of Justice stated to me, and I repeated it back to the deparment official to confirm it as being accurate....Oregon Department of Justice's "Media Rep" confirmed today that there was, indeed, an "Inquiry", upon request, into certain actions in Richard Lee's past conduct as confirmed by Sheriff Tom Bergin and reported by the Daily Astorian.

It doesn't bother you that we (the public) can't find out what really happened here?
You can go on and on about audits and throw your hands up at minutes not being posted fast enough, but you could give a shit-less about what happens at one of the most powerful agencies in the State.
Call DOJ's media rep, ask her about DOJ policy.
I asked a question and got a fair and clear answer and it's at the very top of this discussion and a couple times in between.
You want to change DOJ policy, don't ask me, take it to State Legislature for a start with a good explanation as to why you want it changed.
So, it sounds like Richard Lee did nothing wrong in the eyes of the Attorney General. We have seen the Attorney General before in Clatsop County and they sure did their job. I wonder why we have not seen their findings in the Daily A? Of course, it is difficult even for the paper to pursue a scathing when those nasty facts get in the way.
"They, D.O.J., determined, in their inquiry, there was not enough evidence to warrant a full investigation at the time."
They also did not confirm that the case was closed or inactive or that Lee had been exonerated.
Could be there is some new information that may contradict the information in this thread.
For god's sake can't any of you (besides Patrick) take a "maybe" as an answer? No. Duh.
Lack of evidence of wrongdoing doesn't prove a lack of wrongdoing, and just because there was an inquiry (NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!) does not prove Lee has done anything wrong with the ODoJ.
But eh, this is politics, so don't let that logic get in the way.
Has anyone tried filing a public records request for records concerning the inquiry?
"Has anyone tried filing a public records request for records concerning the inquiry?"
Yes, a request for a clarification of the status of Lee's case.
