And please remember: its not whether you will get screwed by the auto maker, the dealer and the United Auto Workers, but how much you will get screwed!

My wife has learned to never let me set foot in an Auto Dealership to seriously negotiate a new car purchase.

And at $73.26 per hour, aggregate, for a UAW worker, it doesn't appear that it will get any better.

My God, what kind of human being would say such things at all, let alone in print for others to see? Not agreeing with someone is one thing, but this is completely different. What a tragic, sick individual. It might be good for everyone to know who this is, so we can avoid it.

Enough!

The discussion is on buying autos.

What's your experience at a car dealer, good, bad, ugly and who around these parts is the best dealership to deal with?

Never had a good experience with Lums.

1 - Tried to buy a car from them. They didn't have one in stock, but said they could get it from a Portland dealer - in 2 weeks. So we went directly to Portland to buy it instead of waiting 2 weeks. Lums refused to honor the manufacturer warrantee because we didn't buy it from Lums.

2 - Had to ... and I mean "HAD TO" ... use Lums for repairs a couple times, and they "forgot" to reconnect various tubes, belts, hoses, electrical connections. Then tried to charge me extra for reconnecting those things, which THEY had disconnected in the first place. None of which needed to be disconnected to make the repairs.

Can't tell you how many times I've heard that around here over the last fifteen years.
