Oregon lawmakers seek 30% cuts from every state agency

SALEM, Ore. -- Every government agency in Oregon -- from public safety to the judicial branch -- would be required to cut 30 percent from “essential budget levels” to close a budget gap of at least $3 billion in the 2009-2011 state budget, lawmakers decided Friday.
