527 Groups?

Committee for County Prosperity ID: 13954( Nature of Committee:
support good works of commissioners asking community to retain)
Orestar Transactions show at least $6,000 in cash contrbutions from Bradwood Landing LLC funneled through this organization and intended for Samuelson, Hazen and Roberts

Oregonians to Maintain Community Standards ID: 1579 Lists Samuelson and Hazen on their roster of support

A 527 organization or 527 group is a type of American tax-exempt organization named after a section of the United States tax code, 26 U.S.C. § 527. A 527 group is created primarily to influence the nomination, election, appointment or defeat of candidates for public office. Although candidate committees and political action committees are also created under Section 527, the term is generally used to refer to political organizations that are not regulated by the Federal Election Commission or by a state elections commission, and are not subject to the same contribution limits as PACs. However, On September 18, 2009 the Washington D.C Federal Appeals Court ruled that these groups have a First Amendment right to raise and spend freely to influence elections so long as they do not coordinate their activities with a candidate or a party.

Sorry Patrick so let me rephrase my post and I apologize to Ms. Bartoldus for confusing her with somebosy else.

An interest group (also advocacy group, lobby group, pressure group or special interest group) is an organization that seeks to influence ...interesting examples:Columbia Riverkeepers, RiverVision, Columbia River Business Alliance, Oregonians to Maintain Community Standards, Committee for County Prosperity, etc. and they are all, in the end, political as hell, no matter how its spun, 5013c or 527.

A 'Theocrat'pretending to be a reporter.
What a sinful beast that is.

How about a Theocrat(thinks the Port should display the Ten Commandments) pretending to be a politician/administrator (running for Port Commissioner)....?

Let's look at one Advocacy Group;Columbia Riverkeeper

Columbia Riverkeeper's (CRK) mission is to restore and protect the water quality of the Columbia River and all life connected to it, from the headwaters to the Pacific Ocean. To achieve our ambitious goals for the Columbia River watershed and estuary we use an integrated strategy of community-based grassroots organizing, public education, legal enforcement, and hands-on citizen involvement in tangible river protection projects. This multi-faceted model of advocacy is key to addressing the myriad of immediate threats facing the Columbia River.

CRK Programs;
Liquefied Natural Gas
Hanford
Clean Water Enforcement
Environmental Justice
Water Quality Monitoring
Toxic Reduction
Protecting Critical Habitats

And the underlying reason for NCO to perpetuate this bullshit story on CRK and the crap on 501c3s......Could it be Bradwood Landing and Oregon LNG could both be in jeopardy, Hazen(all the facts revealed) and Roberts to ultimately fall and the crowd in Leesville are pulling old Bartoldus's strings to do her loyal and subserviant part in helping save their little plan?

Two down, two to go.

Oh! you don't think it will end at these recalls do you?

I think the game has just begun.

*A new Federal Administration

*A New FERC with its head the only dissenting vote on Bradwood Landing's application and many, many unmitigated issues in front of them and the same with Oregon LNG.

* A New Oregon Attorney General unfriendly to LNG

* Still tentative seats on Clatsop County Commission with some potential surprising developments on certain Commissioners upcomig.

*The U.S. Natural Gas market raising many questions to the need for the LNG process and accompanying pipelines for any reason, at least in the near future.

Yes, someone could see merit in what Marc says.

Kroger is a politician pandering to the ecotards with his double talk-when it comes down to whether the terminals will be built he wont have a thing to do with denying them. The feds approves because it's good business and sound solution to the new engergy needs of the country and beyond through the 21st century. The anti groups are just hustlers-like television evangelist, who know they can tap into the "sucker market" and get people to send them money after the ecobots hammer them relentlessly with tales of doom and gloom of what will happen to them if the dreaded LNG becomes a reality. LNG is good business-everybody with half a brain knows that.
