Port Backs A Ken Leahy(Bradwood Landing Owner)/John Dunzer(Seaside Rabble Rouser) Alternate Energy Venture!

Read The Daily "A's" Katie Wilson Report - "Port Backs Alternative Energy Plan"

Three Questions:
John Dunzer?
Ken Leahy?
Port of Astoria?

It's amazing how "Desperation" does indeed make strange bedfellows isn't it?

Not too long ago, when Ken Leahy and his confederates, Northern Star Natural Gas, were running hot and heavy trying to ram a proposed, alleged, Liquefied Natural Gas receiving terminal down our throats, and "Perpetual Candidate" John Dunzer was pimping his proposed scrap wood electric generating facility next door presumably to aid NSNG/Bradwood in warming that LNG, the last person Leahy and friends would even consider speaking to would have been Dunzer.

And now, here they are, in bed with each other with that scheme being publicy endorsed by the Port of Astoria because it "lines up with the "Port's" stategic plan as a "Generator" for jobs"?

One other question arises; What authority does Port of Astoria have at Bradwood Landing to express any legitimate endorsement for that proposed venture at all? Would it not be more appropriate for Clatsop County to endorse or diaprrove of that proposal?

And then another question arises; What about Tongue Point and Martin Nygaard's proposed Log Processing facility accompanied by a Bio-Mass Electric Generation facility that would generate enough enrgy to electrify 14,000 homes?

The Port of Astoria And South Korea Shippers Agreement

Exerpted from The Daily Astorian article by Katie Wilson:"Port of Astoria forges close ties with South Korea"

"Commission to enter a ‘sister port’ agreement."

A memorandum of understanding lays out a relationship between the U.S. port and the Korean port. The goal is to strengthen trade development between the two ports by exchanging information about port operations, cargo handling equipment, maintenance, shipping plans and trends; by opening up the ports and studying each other's operations; by exchanging trade information that could help in the growth of the ports; and by providing introductions to key public and private officials."

Uh-Oh!

Exciting news, indeed, but for that last line in the paragraph above...."and by providing introductions to key public and private officials."

In my view and being very apprehensive at the moment about this current Port Commission, its make-up and recent decisions, I would think this decision and its magnitude should be an issue that goes way above the local GOB network and should involve all elements of County and Lower Columbia River region governments and the citizen/constituents as well before any final decision is made to avoid the likes of "The Skipanon Peninsula, Calpine-OLNG Boondoggle we are now going to be forced to live with for the next 60 years, it appears.

Let's not forget that two Port Commissioners involved in that blight on our Port history and the same local leaders approached in the private meetings are still here.

Let's pray that this will not be "Deja Vu all over again" and any introduction to and fro between "Port" and the Buson shippers inlcude all of us in this process this time.

The Port? Clatsop County Government?: Is It Time For A State Performance and Financial Audit?

How do we, as citizens and constituents of Clatsop County, being served by both these agencies, The Port of Astoria and Clatsop County Government's Board of Commissioners get all the ills that have befallen us in their dysfunction get all of them on the table for treatment and dismissal?

The only immediate and effective way, in our interest, is through The Oregon Secretary of State's Office by a Financial and Performance Audit and it is not voluntary on the part of either agency or under their control.

The question is: should we be presented with the opportunity to have these audits performed, would you as a taxpayer, citizen, voter, resident of Clatsop County approve it?
