Go Green!; Buy A Used Car Over A New Hybrid!
As Matt Power notes in this month's issue of Wired, hybrids get great gas mileage but it takes 113 million BTUs of energy to make a Toyota Prius. Because there are about 113,000 BTUs of energy in a gallon of gasoline, the Prius has consumed the equivalent of 1,000 gallons of gasoline before it reaches the showroom. i love wired! except they're making me feel bad for buying a prius. and i love my prius. i can hobnob with the stuck up greenies now. ;-)
i put the miles on as fast as i could. i've had it for about a year now and just about to 46k miles. glad to see it's paying off....
i know the good folks at Wired are just jealous. and as usual, i'm the fall guy. [shrug]
now if toyota would just come out with a plug in that can go at least 200 miles, i can trade.
I've got a VW Golf about ready to go back on the road myself.
