A grassroots movement (often referenced in the context of a political movement) is one driven by the constituents of a community. GRP does not necessarily condone or support the issues presented here. "We demand that big business give the people a square deal; in return we must insist that when anyone engaged in big business honestly endeavors to do right he shall himself be given a square deal." Ah, well, there are, of course, lots of people in the Astoria area who think marijuana is not dope, it's life. I doubt they would consider themselves dopers and would, instead, consider the historical finding confirmation that their views of life are valid. Unfortunately, most of these people rely on the dole, either for their very existance or, when they get drugged up and wind up in the hospital for treatment paid by the taxpayers. Since Astorians cottle them, make excuses for them and even consider them cool, we are still a nation of dopes.

Show evidence that 1 human being has OD'd on Marijuana? Yes, there are people that spend their money on things they shouldn't if they are receiving aid from the state. But, that is a whole other argument. I invite you to check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis_(drug) read up! You will notice there is a chart in which Alcohol & Tobacco, both which are legal, have a high dependency and physical harm ratings. If the government would just tax the stuff instead of trying to fight it's use. they would make money instead of losing millions trying to win a war it cannot.
