Insane. If you don't agree with the vote you must replace? Did we just go through 8 years of this stupid behavior?

Could you explain that a bit more in detail?

Sure. If you're an anti-lng activist, and you're unhappy with the vote of the commission (Clatsop County now, Port soon to come) you file a recall petition. No reason to let the public truly weigh in during the next election cycle as it is with all elected officials. So instead the anti-lng activists will continue with recall efforts, and any other activity that will distract time and resources from running our county. If the public sentiment was in fact against LNG, you'd see more than the usual suspects carrying signs and hurling insults at the commissioners. If the opponents want to prove where the majority is on the issue, put a simple initiative on the ballot on LNG. ie, should a LNG terminal be allowed in Clatsop County? Yes/No. I do believe they would be surprised.

I believe before it's all over that is what it is going to take to settle it in this community and others impacted by the future of it.

Another arguement is:"If not LNG Siting and Speculation, what?

I would say one failing of CCBofC, along with other panels of leadership(CEDR, etc.) in this community has been to not explore other cohesive and compatible industry here that would hire many more at sustainable, family wage jobs and benefits before we make a final commitment to this costly and ponderous scheme with a minimal end result in my view and what appears to be coming more clear, a true lack og need.

I would say that an intitiative on the ballot today would see LNG Speculation and Profiteering in Clatsop County gone tomorrow and for this scheme, time is its worst enemy.

And still the same old voices on both sides making the same old noises trying to cover whoever's butt it is they think they need to cover but, this time the real people around here are going to make themselves heard loud and clear.

Samuelson;

I'd be happy to publish anything you have to say to the people of your district and Clatsop County anytime on this site.

Just email it to me and it is done, the same goes for Hazen or Commissioner Raichl, Commisioner Roberts and Commissioner Rohne.

It will be published just exactly as you say it and without bias.

Sorry Samuelson, I forgot to ask you, since keep bringing up "The North-South County Divide" but, would you care to expand on that a bit so that we all can clearly understand what you are talking about?

Also, what is your view On Port of Astoria setting their Port Positions to align with CCBofC's districts and requiring each commissioner be from the district in which they live?

Do you really expect her to give you an answer mcgee?

You asked her a question instead of her volunteering the information.

Let's give her the benefit of the doubt on this one anonym, I'd really like to hear what she has to say.

McGee, thanks for your response, but I just arrived home from campaigning, and working with some of my volunteers, so the time it takes to answer these questions effectively right now I don't have, but I absolutely have thoughts and ideas about them, and good things are happening. My website, www.annsamuelson.com has some content, but far from completely put together, I welcome feedback on what others think I should add to it. I will get back to you on this, but I'm in Seaside first thing tomorrow for my usual chamber breakfast, and then I'll be in front of the post office in Seaside, with my NO RECALL table, it's unfortunate, but campaigning to stay in office takes time and resources and given the vicious attacks I've endured along with my fellow commissioners, I'm full speed ahead, ONWARD!!!

See I told you mcgee she is not going to answer a damned thing but she is going to make sure you know how busy she is and to us down here in the south doing nothing.

Anon,
Actually last friday I met with commissioner Josi in Tillamook regarding our Clatsop Forest, Monday I was at Suzanne Elise in Seaside meeting with the new director (outstanding woman) to talk about medicaid and how the change in it is putting some of our elderly at risk of being maintained in local facilities...still working on that, and then to cannon beach wed. a.m. to meet with chamber folks, then on to Arch Cape for a few hours to look over their new state of the art waste water treatment plant, and the need for culvert repairs, a bridge that hasn't been able to be used in almost 10 years in the tsunami evacuation zone, and other things, this is all in my district 5 and there is much more happening. Just got a generator donated to the nehalem valley alert organization at the nehalem valley church so they'll have lights and heat when the next storm comes, they did a great job feeding people and providing shelter last time. just got back from meetng many constituents in the parking lot of the post office in seaside along side my recallers, to hear concerns from constituents, and attended the change of command at the US Coast Guard Air Station Peter Troetdsen will be really missed, he is such a community builder. Is there something else you think I should be taking care of? I'm happy to take feedback.

I just want to put a BIG thank you out there for the tremendous support I've received. I've received a number of emails from folks that hesitate to publicly come out in support due to concerns of harassment from some of these folks. I have many stories I'll share as I walk through this experience, but yesterday in particular I felt this recall was happening for a reason, ever get that strong feeling you were in the right place at the right time? I was at Seaside Post office introducing myself to constituents while these folks are spreading lies about me attempting to get signatures and I noticed an elderly man walking across the parking lot, a kid jumped in his pickup without looking and would have backed right over him if I hadn't pounded my fist into the hood of his truck and made him stop!!! My hand is a little sore, and it bend the ring I was wearing, but not bad for day 1 of this fight, met a bunch of great people, received many calls of support to volunteer on my campaign and to donate $$$ and saved a life....oh and he didn't sign the recall petition, I got a hug instead. Bob Hauke gave me 50.00 last night and told me to fight these people...made me cry, he's fighting brain cancer, makes this battle look small in comparison....he is completely selfless, thinking about how these folks are hurting our community rather than himself when he is so very ill.....Love that guy and his wife Marilyn too!!! So ONWARD!!

KC McGee said...

Ann, although I think your actions as a county commissioner are not to the benefit of the citizens, and I support your recall, I have never thought or spoken ill of you as a person. I would expect you to fight your recall with all your energy. If only you would put that energy towards finding the best fit for the county with regards to industry offering family wage jobs.

Jeff said...

Patrick, I will weigh in on your question regarding the port. Yes, I support the notion of having the port commissioners elected by the 5 districts in the county.

Ann Samuelson said...

Patrick, I will weigh in on your port question as well, I too think my district should have representation there, we receive very little benefit from the port although I and others have been working with Jack Crider and the port commissioners to get some benefit in District 5, and they are working on it. They helped in some trail building in Cannon Beach recently. Further, take a look at my website, there's a letter from Atlin Investment on it that explains how much I with Senator Johnsons help made the Northcoast Business Park permits happen in a timely manner so that Costco could begin construction on a schedule that was critical for them. Hazen couldn't do that due to his conflict as an employee of Costco so I volunteered to take the lead on that, and it went well. There are many opportunities we are all working on in Clatsop Co., focusing on one issue is not productive. ONWARD!!!!

Jobs Commissioner Samuelson in our district. What are you doing about getting us some decent jobs down here?

Patrick McGee said...

Jeff, Ann...Thank you for your input on "Port" district zoning and I would like for each of you to expand on you answer by telling us what benefit you think setting representation of "Port" by specific zone would bring to the community and County Commission.

Commissioner Samuelson do you have an answer fopr this person?

Jeff, what is CCBofC doing to bring longterm, sustainable, cohesive, clean, compatible, living wage industry/business to Clatsop County?
