Clatsop No LNG Action Plan Meeting - February 9, 2009

From: Laurie Caplan

Subject: A Thousand Cuts! Monday, Feb. 9 at 6:30

Four years of NO LNG work is working! LNG is losing! Leaping Lizards!

Thanks to meetings, rallies, a Mothers March, lawsuits, letters, lobbying, legislation, demonstrations, voting, raising a ruckus, and more! Our opposition continues to cost LNG promoters credibility, momentum, time, and tons of money.

Help create our NO LNG action plan for 2009.

With enough people, we can do almost anything!

Clatsop NO LNG Action Plan Meeting Monday, February 9 at 6:30 - 8 p.m. Alderbrook Hall - 4509 Lief Erickson Drive at the east end of Astoria

Open to everyone who knows LNG does not belong on the Columbia River. Free screening of “Crossroads on the Columbia” at 7:30 p.m - an inspiring and exciting 20-minute award-winning film co-written and co-produced by Donna Quinn of Astoria.

i guess if you keep telling yourself something, eventually you will believe it.

the ego of an anti lng is astounding.

i guess i missed the part where "it is working" comes in.

the anti lng is focusing on the environmental/aesthetics aspect.

the real bouncing ball if you will is in fact the economics of it. that is where the heart of whether or not lng will come is. and only that is where the war will be won or lost.

silly rabbits.

The real poser is and I get crap from both sides and still no answer.

So, what if LNG packs it's bags tomorrow and says, "We're outta here", then what?

We still have a huge hole here with no jobs when we need to be putting 100's, 1000's of our citizens to work.

My opposition is that I believe we can do better than this LNG siting proposal in planning for our futures here and we have to cut the tie of dependence on fossil fuels as quickly as possible and this is not the way to do it.

I, like everbody, need the time to explore the answers before this commitment for at least a generation.

McGee, why dont you just shut the fuck up. You're nobody who thinks he's a somebody. What you are is a NUT.

Just one person with one viewpoint "Anonym" and like me at other sites, you don't like the atmosphere or comments here, nobody's forcing you to come here but, if you do, be respectful.

Can you add anyhting to the topic of this discussion?

i did get a laugh out of anon's comment. i'm surprised you let it through. funnier yet was your response! - "see what i mean"

seriously, clatsop is becoming known as where NOT to set up shop. no incentive. kooks are running the show. sad but true.

from an outside prospective (which i now have for the first time ever) clatsop has a welcome sign that says "we like things just the way they are"

It's an opinion, not a threat, a little salty but, it seems I evoke that response in some people. Notice "The Anonym" didn't add one positive thing to the discussion.

"We like things just the way they are"?

I heard that 13-14 years ago when I walked into Astoria Parks and Recreation with another "Big Idea" and where the receptionist said "She likes Astoria just like it is and doesn't want anything like this here".

It was a concept for a Community Center.

Didn't get too far with what's his name at the time but, Seasisde loved it.
