Samuelson Votes Against Port's Tongue Point Purchase Loan!

County Commissioner Ann Samuelson was the only dissenting vote on a motion to approve a partial loan of $100,000 towards the purchase of Tongue point by The Port of Astoria at yesterday's Clatsop County Board of Commisioners meeitng.

Samueslon also rapped the knuckles of Port with the mention of The Port's relationship with South County and what The Port does for it which is and has been a sticking point in their relationship for years some would say and still no obvious ground gained at all. Samuelson implies she is a big proponent of Community Building and has stated so in many communiques over her tenure on CCBofC and let's hope at some point actions will prevail over rhetoric.

Samuelson also and rightly so in my view, brought up the issue of the status of the lease with The Port and now, Oregon LNG, at Skipanon Peninsula and that lease's validity. Disregarding the position this conveys on the part of Samuelson as County Commissioner, the confrontation and settlement of this issue is long overdue and if Attorney General Kroger wants to get into the energy frey on behalf of the citizens of Clatsop County and Oregon as well, this is a good candidate to do so, or would it be prudent to get all those legal beagles on retainer with Port and CCBofC, a few working for both?, to do their version of Due Diligence on this issue and present a position to take on making it truly legal or oust OLNG?

I was at a party the other night and over heard Commissioner Samuelson tell Port Commissioner Floyd Holcomb that if he didn't get rid of Oregon LNG off of the Skippinon she would vote No on the County Vote, which she did. To Holcomb's credit, he told her that her support of Bradwood should not cloud her judgement for the public good and that Tongue Point should be looked at seperately from the LNG issue. She was very vocal about her support for Bradwood to him and he declined to fall for her lobbying and threatning demeanor.

At the least. "The Port" should make every effort to explore the current legal status of that lease.

How many hands has that thing been through with no significant adjustment of any sort whatsoever?

I'll give Samuelson that one but she best watch the prejudice she is establishing when it comes time to put Bradwood back on the table.

I will assure you that the legal beagles from the anti-LNG side will be ready with legal precedent to, at least, force recusal of three for certain in my view but, that's just crazy old me.

I watched it happen at an Astoria City Council meeting once and it can happen and henceforward after that be caused to refrain from any further deliberation on the issue.

"if he didn't get rid of Oregon LNG off of the Skippinon she would vote No on the County Vote"

pardon my french but i have to call bullshit on that. there has never been one instance of com. samualson voicing any concerns about LNG on the skipanon.

infact, neither of the two sites are in her district and the county benefits with either site. it seems to me the skipanon would be easier since they already have their land issues resolved.

you gotta do better than that. my 2nd grader could write a better smear tactic.

Glenn,

She said it over the air on KAST-AM.

No noise about not voting for "The Loan" but, certainly making it clear that the Skipanon lease was an issue and the relationship between "Port" and South County and then to vote against the loan was a pretty good indicator of prejudice on her part don't you think?

I would certainly and respectfully invite the Commissioner on here to explain herself to those that may be interested.

i am aware of the skipanon lease being of no benefit for the south county (according to samualson on the radio). seperate issue.

why would samualson, what possible motive would she have to tell holcom "or else"? doesn't jibe. no sense. baseless. NOT BELIEVABLE.

think about it. "anon" is in the right place at the right time overhearing a threatening conversation??? the only place we read about it is here???

sorry, i don't buy it. not to mention ann isn't that sort of person. not her personality to threaten. i know her pretty well. well enough to know that kind of conversation never took place.

anon is full of crap.
