VENICE, La/HOUSTON – The U.S. government threatened to remove BP from efforts to seal a blown-out oil well in the Gulf of Mexico if it doesn't do enough to stop the leak, though it acknowledged only the company and the oil industry have the know-how to halt the deepwater spill.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said on Sunday Washington is frustrated and angry that BP Plc missed "deadline after deadline" in its efforts to seal the well more than a month after an oil rig explosion triggered the disaster......

Have you heard on the tube that of all the 600 or so rigs in the gulf there is one drilling down 10,000 ft. I don't know if it is true.

I understand a sub would be crushed at the 5,000 ft depth we're dealing with now.

The governor of Nola is sure getting his chops finally and shame on what is left of the EPA to take so long to "study the matter". A sand barrier is in order and the EPA is studying the environmental effects of such a move. ha-ha
The minerals part of interior gave BP free range to be stupid. Of course I could go down the conspiracy road. Sad to see such a weak US gov't.

see the volcano at bp.com

drillers do this all over the world and take close to 3 months to cement less deep hits. we just don't hear about it.

I don't believe there aren't any people out there that couldn't stop it tonight.

Heck, they could block it off with all the stuff the DOD has that they don't need. (obsolete planes that were never used, etc.)

Ironic that we have humungous plastic islands floating in the Oceans. As a group we are quite disappointing

Oh well, eat a peach for peace

Interesting that Dudley is the name of the president (?) or whatever in charge of something plastic and oily in the
Americas. That is perfect. To say the LEAST, their 5000 ft drill venture turned out to be a dud. I don't actually know if it was just an oil inventory goof-up or what, but to me they are overpaid criminals. Are they really the government. Want to take them on?

Andre'Barnett, not pictured, says he has closed these wells before. No problem. BP, whitehouse has not returned his call.

Is BP and the powers that be flooding the world in oil on purpose? If so, why?

Paddy, i warned you that someday we would become Big Haiti. You probably don't remember.

Patrick, what do you think of the way things are being handled in the Gulf? Take your time. I trust everything is fine with all the McGees. I remember you have family down there.

I've been reading things that were written on your blog during the last campaign. Sounded real rough for a small town and I blame the energy industry that got in through the Port. I wonder how hard they had to work on the Port commission to get their cloven hooves through the door.

I hope people will now realize how unholy they are. They will say and do anything for profit and power. As naive as I may be I must say that it's not right to behave without regard for human life.

The rigs in the gulf provided jobs for folks but SEE the loss of livlihoods as a result, and the oil is set to devour things on the East Coast.
With phony innocent faces they say they are learning from the crisis and will do so much better next time. I hope to God there is no next time for them.

With great respect to you, Lee.

Patrick, what do you think of the way things are being handled in the Gulf? What amounts to a national enviromental crisis going into 35-36 days and still a bunch of Bureaucrats pissing and moaning at whose fault all this is and now word is it will take till August to cap it off? Easy to see how things are going eh? Take your time. I trust everything is fine with all the McGees. I remember you have family down there.

Interview, Page Two, Astoria Citizens Journal if want to hear how easy it was I wonder how hard they had to work on the Port commission to get their cloven hooves through the door.

You know, the Anti-Valdez Oil terminal crowd were pleading with all to take into account the potential of exactly what happened to them well before the project was ever built but, were all "pooh-poohed" and they are still dealing with it today.

And Mike Papantonio, a trial lawyer handling the class actions in the Gulf of Mexico, says the tanker in Prince William Sound had "exxon-Valdez" on it but it was REALLY a BP venture. BP was the liable party and they haven't paid much if any yet, in 21(?) years. They don't care about humans and the planet then or now. Same thing would happen if a small/large accident happened in Warrenton.
